Legomania!
This was the Digivations class I went to. It was really fun! We learned about pollution, NASA, types of energy, rockets, robots using lots of LEGO.
Lucas shooting off his rocketLearning to program the sensor on the airplane
Testing....
Yeah! The propeller is moving according to the programming.
Lucas's creations.
Math Monday today!
Lucas is working on division with Golden Bead materials - "It was hard and fun!"
Olivia was working with the pegboard figuring out multiples of 3 up to 100. " It was fun and a little bit hard."

Mad Scientists
We did some fun experiments today. They were about formation of stars, attraction of particles, viscosity of liquids and the effect of temperature on states of matter. I liked washing the dishes for clean up (Lucas). What was really neat was watching the kids observe firsthand some of the ideas of what happened when the Universe formed. For example, the other day, we read through "A Recipe for a Star" and during the experiments, they were able to reference what they read to what was happening.

Halloween
We did so many things for Halloween week! We visited two pumpkin patches, a couple of corn mazes, visited a haunted house, tried on costumes at Superstore, did pumpkin math - estimating, measuring and weighing our pumpkins, carved pumpkins, roasted the seeds, made pumpkin soup and baked yummy pumpkin cookies
Picking a pumpkin
Trying on masks
Dancing with Frankenstein
Beaching it
Wouldn't it be amazing to play in the sand at all the beaches in the Lower Mainland? Well we have three under our belt this fall.
Crescent Beach
Cultus Lake
Kits Beach
Geometry
Lucas working with the geometry stick box - constructing different types of triangles.
Here is Olivia laying out and labeling the six drawers of the geometric cabinet.
Lucas exploring the qualities of the geometric solids. After he determines what type of base, how many faces, how many edges and whether they roll, he builds his amazing structure!
Welcome!
Welcome to the learning adventures of Lucas and Olivia! We'll keep you updated on what we're learning and the places we go.
